A Response Plan documents the specific steps to take when a process goes out of control. Unlike general documentation or monitoring tools, it provides predefined corrective actions. Control Charts detect issues, but the Response Plan tells you what to do about them.

Surveys, interviews, and listening posts are all methods used to gather the Voice of the Customer (VOC). FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) is a risk management tool used to identify potential failure points in a process or design, not a customer research tool.

Control limits (UCL and LCL) are calculated from actual process data and represent what the process is currently capable of achieving (the 'voice of the process'). Specification limits and targets represent what the customer wants (the 'voice of the customer').

The 1-Sample t-Test specifically compares a sample mean against a known or hypothesized value to determine if they differ significantly. 2-Sample t-Test compares two sample means, ANOVA compares multiple means, and Chi Square tests categorical data associations.

A Full Factorial design tests every possible combination of all factors and their levels. This allows the researcher to study the main effects of all variables as well as all possible interactions between them. Fractional factorials and screening experiments only test a subset of combinations.

Alternate path flowcharts use icons/pictures to visually represent different process paths and decision points. They make process flow more intuitive than standard symbols. Process Flowcharts use standard symbols, Deployment charts show responsibility, and cross-functional maps show departments.

Simulation models process behavior to test solutions before full implementation, reducing risk in the Improve phase. CAP addresses changes, Cost Benefit Analysis evaluates financial impact, and FMEA identifies failure modes - none are primarily testing tools.

Regression analysis is a statistical method used to model the relationship between a dependent variable (Y) and one or more independent variables (X). The resulting regression equation allows practitioners to predict the value of Y based on specific inputs of X.

The Control Impact Matrix (or Cause & Effect Matrix) prioritizes X variables (inputs) by their impact on Y outputs. It helps focus on critical few factors. CAP manages change, FMEA assesses risk, and TRIZ generates solutions - none prioritize by impact.
