• Suez Canal is an artificial sea-level waterway in Egypt that connects the Mediterranean sea with the Red sea. It is 193 km long and has reduced thousands of kilometers of the journey between the Atlantic ocean and the Indian ocean.

During summer, regions of Mediterranean climate are strongly influenced by cold ocean currents which keep the weather in the region dry, stable, and pleasant. In winter, however, they are no longer influenced by the cold ocean currents and therefore warmer water settles near land and causes clouds to form and rainfall becomes much more likely.

Mediterranean region is the area around Mediterranean Sea, Central Chile, South-West USA, Australia, Africa. These regions have hot & dry summers and mild & wet winters. Mediterranean forests are found in these regions. These forests have trees having thick barks and wax coated leaves which help them reduce transpiration. Due to these characteristics, Mediterranean trees adapt themselves to dry summers. Mediterranean Forests are known as 'Orchards of the world' for their fruit cultivation.

It covers an area of about 2,500,000 km2 (970,000 sq mi), representing 0.7% of the global ocean surface.  It is connected to the Atlantic via the Strait of Gibraltar. This narrow strait connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea and separates Spain in Europe from Morocco in Africa—is only 14 km (9 mi).

A farming method that involves the cutting and burning of plants in a forest to create a field is known as ‘Slash and burn’ agriculture.  The resulting layer of ash provides the newly-cleared land with a nutrient-rich layer to help fertilize crops. It is a method of agriculture which is mainly used by tribal communities for subsistence farming. ‘Slash and burn’ agriculture is mostly practiced in central Africa, northern South America, and Southeast Asia. ‘Slash and burn’ agriculture is known as Milpa in Mexico.

The Canary current is a cold current, flows along the western coast of North Africa between Madeira and Cape Verde. This current is the continuation of North Atlantic Drift which turns southward and affects Spain and Portugal and flows to the south along the coast of Canaries Island.
