World Geography and Capitals

Oslo is the capital and largest city of Norway, located at the head of the Oslofjord. Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, Dublin is the capital of Ireland, and Newark is a city in the US state of New Jersey.

Ankara became the capital of Turkey in 1923, replacing Istanbul. While Istanbul is Turkey's largest city and former imperial capital, Ankara was chosen for its central location in the Anatolian heartland. Aurupa appears to be a misspelling, and Las Vegas is in the United States.

Nicosia is the capital and largest city of Cyprus, located in the center of the island. It is unique as the last divided capital in the world, split between the Republic of Cyprus and Northern Cyprus. Limassol and Paralimni are other Cypriot cities, while Lima is the capital of Peru.

Ottawa is the capital of Canada, located in Ontario near the Quebec border. It was chosen as a compromise between English and French Canada. Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal are major Canadian cities but not the national capital.

London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom, serving as the political, economic, and cultural center.

Washington D.C. is the federal capital of the United States, established in 1790 and named after George Washington.

Algiers has been the capital of Algeria since independence in 1962, located on the Mediterranean coast. It's the country's largest city and political center. Luanda is the capital of Angola, while Lusaka is Zambia's capital.
