World Geography and Capitals

Helena is the capital of Montana. Providence is Rhode Island's capital, Frankfort is Kentucky's, and Concord is New Hampshire's.

Jackson is the capital of Mississippi. Lansing is Michigan's capital, Springfield is Illinois's, and Atlanta is Georgia's.

Harrisburg is the capital of Pennsylvania. Columbus is Ohio's capital, Helena is Montana's, and Concord is New Hampshire's.

Belgrade's name comes from the Slavic words 'beograd' meaning 'white city' (beli = white, grad = city). This refers to the white fortress that once stood at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. Ottawa, Helsinki, and Oslo are not known as 'The White City' - they have different nicknames or no such nickname.

Thiruvananthapuram (also known as Trivandrum) is the capital city of Kerala, located at the southern tip of the state. Kochi is a major port city but not the capital, while Kottayam and Kozhikode are important district headquarters but not state capitals.

The opening match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup was played at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg. South Africa faced Mexico in this inaugural match on June 11, 2010, ending in a 1-1 draw. Johannesburg was the primary host city, with Soccer City (now FNB Stadium) as the main venue.

São Paulo is the largest city in Brazil and the capital of São Paulo state. It's one of the world's most populous cities and a major financial center in South America. Peru, Portugal, and Spain are entirely different countries.

Medina is known as Madinat al-Nabi (City of the Prophet) because it was the city where Prophet Muhammad migrated after fleeing Mecca (Hijra in 622 CE), where he established the first Islamic state, lived the later years of his life, and was buried. It remains the second holiest city in Islam after Mecca.

Skopje is the capital and largest city of North Macedonia. Kiev is the capital of Ukraine, Minsk is the capital of Belarus, and Donetsk is a city in Ukraine. Toppo is not a capital city.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Washington D.C. hosts the World Bank and IMF, not WHO. Rotterdam and Venice are not UN agency headquarters locations.

OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) has been headquartered in Vienna, Austria, since 1965, despite Austria not being an oil-exporting member. It was originally founded in Baghdad in 1960.

Madrid is the capital and largest city of Spain, located in the center of the country. It has been Spain's capital since 1561 (except briefly 1601-1606). Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, Granada is in Andalusia, and San Sebastian is in the Basque Country, all important cities but not the national capital.

Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Halifax is the capital of Nova Scotia, St. John's is the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Fredericton is the capital of New Brunswick.

Oslo is the capital of Norway. Lisbon is the capital of Portugal, Rome is the capital of Italy, and Cairo (misspelled as Ciaro) is the capital of Egypt.

Thiruvananthapuram is the capital city of the Indian state of Kerala.
