Abuja is the capital of Nigeria, having replaced Lagos in 1991 as a purpose-built capital located in the geographic center of the country. Abuja was built in the 1980s and became Nigeria's eighth capital. Accra is the capital of Ghana, and Abidjan is the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire.
