ISRO Missions and Satellites

GSAT-1, also known as INSAT-4B, was India's first satellite dedicated to providing communication services to rural and remote areas.

INSAT-1A, launched in 1982, was India's first geostationary communication satellite, providing telecommunications, television broadcasting, and meteorological services.

INSAT-3D, also known as GSAT-4, was India's first dedicated meteorological satellite, designed to study the Earth's atmosphere and climate.

APPLE, short for Ariane Passenger Payload Experiment, was India's first satellite to be launched by a foreign launch vehicle, the European Ariane rocket.

IRNSS-1A, the first satellite in the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), was launched in 2013 to provide navigation services to the Indian military and civilian users.

The Aditya-L1 mission is a joint Indo-French project aimed at studying the Sun's corona and understanding the processes that drive solar activity.

The GAGAN project is a joint Indo-Russian project aimed at studying the Earth's magnetosphere and its impact on satellite navigation systems.

The Suzaku mission is a joint Indo-Japanese project aimed at studying the X-ray universe and understanding the high-energy processes in celestial objects.

Space Startup India is a program launched by IN-SPACe to support space startups in India. It provides funding, mentorship, and access to resources to help startups develop innovative space technologies.

All of the above government agencies are involved in promoting space technology applications in India. ISRO, DAE, and MoES have their own programs for developing and using space technology for various applications.

Astrosat is India's first dedicated astronomy satellite, launched in 2013. One of its primary objectives is to search for exoplanets, which are planets orbiting stars other than the Sun. Astrosat has made significant contributions to the study of exoplanets and has helped identify several potential candidates for habitable worlds.

Mangalyaan, also known as the Mars Orbiter Mission, is India's first interplanetary mission. It was launched in 2014 with the primary objective of studying the Martian atmosphere, surface features, and searching for evidence of past or present life on Mars. Mangalyaan successfully entered Mars' orbit in September 2014 and has been providing valuable data about the Red Planet since then.

Chandrayaan-1 was India's first lunar mission, launched in 2008. Its primary objective was to study the lunar surface, mineralogy, and chemical composition, and to search for evidence of water or other resources on the Moon. Chandrayaan-1 successfully entered lunar orbit in November 2008 and provided valuable data about the Moon's surface and composition.

Aditya-L1 is India's first dedicated solar mission, launched in 2017. Its primary objective is to study the Sun's corona, chromosphere, and photosphere, and to understand the Sun's impact on Earth's climate and space weather. Aditya-L1 is positioned at the Lagrange point 1 (L1), which is about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth in the direction of the Sun.

Mars Orbiter Mission 2, also known as Mangalyaan 2, is India's second interplanetary mission, launched in 2019. Its primary objective is to study the Martian surface, atmosphere, and mineralogy, and to search for evidence of past or present life on Mars. Mars Orbiter Mission 2 is expected to reach Mars' orbit in September 2023.
