Chamaraja Wodeyar X died in Calcutta while there on a visit. Naalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar ascended throne as his successor in 1895 and he was only eleven years old then. The administration was run by his mother Nanjammanni. The direct rule of Naalvadi started from 1902. He was well educated and laid a firm foundation for a modern state during his long reign. He was visionary and had a soft corner for the welfare of the downtrodden. He formed Miller Commission in order to ensure the participation of all sections of the society in the administration.

After the creation of Andhra Pradesh, the demand for reorganizing regions based on languages grew more. The central government formed a commission State Reorganizing Commission to give a report on the issue. It was chaired by S. Fazal Ali and hence it is called as Fazal Ali Commission. H.N. Kunjru and K.M.Phanikkar were its members. The commission presented its report in 1956. As a result, the reorganization of states took place based on the language and the ease of administration. 

The Government appointed a Tax Reforms Committee under Prof Raja Chelliah to lay out agenda for reforming India’s tax system. This TRC came up with three reports in 1991, 1992 and 1993 with several measures.

Born in the well known Karanth family, Sri K. Ramakrishna Karant, a freedom fighter, one of the architects of the Karnataka state and a senior advocate of the Supreme Court was the head of Karnataka Ekikarana Samiti. He was also a Land Revenue Minister in the Madras Presidency.

The Payyannur Congress session in 1928 was presided over by Jawaharlal Nehru. It was a significant event in the Kerala regional movement.

Justice Lokeshwar Singh Panta was appointed as the first Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) of India when it was established in 2010.

Under Chandrasekhar Azad's leadership, Hindustan Republican Association changed its title to Hindustan Socialist Republican Association.

Yashwantrao Chavan belonged to the Indian National Congress Party. He served in the office for 933 days.

Indian Education Commission is also called as Kothari Commission which was set up by the Indian government to examine the education sector and present necessary changes. It was formed on 14 July 1964 under the chairmanship of Daulat Singh Kothari, then chairman of the University Grants Commission.

In May 1884, M. Veeraraghavachariar, G. Subramania Iyer and P. Anandacharlu established the Madras Mahajana Sabha. The office of the Sabha functioned in the beginning at the office of The Hindu, Ellis Road Junction, Mount Road. P. Rangaiah Naidu was elected President of the Sabha in 1885.

In 1908, Subramaniya Siva was arrested by the British and was the first political prisoner  in Madras jail. While serving a prison term, he was afflicted by leprosy and was shifted to Salem jail. Since leprosy was regarded as a contagious disease, the British authorities forbade him to travel by rail after his release and hence he was forced to travel on foot.

Kumarasami Kamaraj , was a leader of the Indian National Congress, widely acknowledged as the "Kingmaker" in Indian politics during the 1960s. He served as Congress president for four years between 1964-1967 and was responsible for the elevation of Lal Bahadur Shastri to the position of Prime Minister of India after Indira Gandhi turned down the same at the time of Jawaharlal Nehru death.

In 1937 Justice Party lost election against National Congress after that it came under the leadership of Periyar E. V. Ramaswamy and converted into Dravida Kazhagam (DK) in 1944.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was an Indian philosopher and statesman who was the first Vice President of India from 1952–1962 and the second President of India from 1962 to 1967.

Suraj Bhan is the first National Commission for scheduled caste on 2004.
