Fort William is located in Kolkata, West Bengal. It was built by the British East India Company and serves as a major army garrison and headquarters of the Eastern Command of the Indian Army.

Jaipur is known as the Pink City because of the distinctive pink-colored sandstone used in its old city walls and buildings. The color was chosen to welcome the Prince of Wales in 1876 and has been maintained since. Udaipur (City of Lakes), Jaisalmer (Golden City), and Jodhpur (Blue City) have different monikers based on their architecture and geography.

Shimla served as the summer capital of British India from 1864 onwards. The British moved to the cooler hills during summer months to escape the heat of the plains. Nainital, Darjeeling, and Ooty were hill stations but not the official summer capital.

Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim, located in the eastern Himalayan region. Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya, Panaji (Panjim) is Goa's capital, and Shimla is Himachal Pradesh's capital.

Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) is the capital of West Bengal and India's third-largest city. Mumbai is Maharashtra's capital, Chennai is Tamil Nadu's capital, and Bangalore (Bengaluru) is Karnataka's capital.

Thiruvananthapuram (commonly known as Trivandrum) is the capital of Kerala. Cochin (Kochi) is a major city in Kerala but not the capital, Pondicherry is a union territory, and Chennai is Tamil Nadu's capital.

According to AC Nielsen surveys, Chennai has been ranked among the cleanest cities in India. The other Tamil Nadu cities listed (Coimbatore, Ooty, Kodaikanal) are not the correct answer in this context.

The East India Company first established itself in Bengal after getting the firman from Mughal Emperor in 1757, following the Battle of Plassey. While Madras (1639) and Bombay (1661) were earlier settlements, Bengal became the company's first major stronghold and administrative center. Delhi and Karachi were never East India Company establishments (Karachi is now in Pakistan).

The Delhi-Bombay (Mumbai) National Highway (NH 48) passes through Jaipur in Rajasthan. Indore is connected via a different route, Jhansi is on different north-south corridors, and Nasik (Nashik) is in Maharashtra but not on this specific highway's direct route.

The Rajdhani Express connects the national capital (New Delhi/Hazrat Nizamuddin) to state capitals. The Bangalore Rajdhani runs from Hazrat Nizamuddin station. While there are Rajdhanis to Guwahati (from New Delhi) and Ahmedabad, and a Chennai connection, the specific Bangalore route starts from Hazrat Nizamuddin.

Indira Gandhi International Airport is located in New Delhi and serves as the primary international airport for India's capital city. Named after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, it is one of the busiest airports in India. The other options listed are major Indian cities, but none host IGI Airport.
