Morocco was a French protectorate from 1912 to 1956, part of France's colonial empire in North Africa. While Spain controlled a small northern zone, France administered the majority of Moroccan territory during the colonial period until Moroccan independence.

Egypt was a British protectorate from 1914-1922 and under heavy British influence through the Suez Canal before that. Turkey and Arabia never governed Egypt, and France's involvement was limited to the Suez Canal construction period.
