Todar Mal served as Akbar's finance minister (Diwan) and was one of the Navratnas (nine jewels) in Akbar's court. He reformed the revenue system and introduced the zabt system of land revenue assessment. Birbal was known for his wit, Man Singh was a military commander, and Tansen was the legendary musician.

Vijay Mallya purchased Tipu Sultan's sword at a London auction in 2004 for approximately £175,000 and brought it back to India. The sword had historical significance as it belonged to the 18th-century Mysore ruler. Ratan Tata, Aditya Birla, and Mukesh Ambani did not acquire this artifact.

Indira Gandhi was assassinated on October 31, 1984, by two of her Sikh bodyguards - Satwant Singh and Beant Singh. They shot her in retaliation for Operation Blue Star, the military operation ordered against Sikh militants at the Golden Temple in Amritsar earlier that year.

Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on May 21, 1991, by Thenmozhi Rajaratnam (also known as Dhanu), a female suicide bomber of the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam). She detonated an RDX explosive during an election rally in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, killing herself and the former Prime Minister.

'A Call to Honour: In Service of Emergent India' was written by Jaswant Singh, India's former Foreign Minister and Finance Minister. The 2006 book created controversy when it alleged that the Prime Minister's Office may have been aware of the Kargil intrusion before it became public knowledge.

Sir William Emerson designed the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata, built between 1906-1921. He was a renowned British architect who also designed other major buildings in India. The memorial combines British and Mughal architectural elements.

At the closing ceremony of CWG 2010 in Delhi, wrestler Sushil Kumar handed over the baton to Prince Charles, symbolizing the transition to the next Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Sushil Kumar was an appropriate choice as he had won a gold medal at these games. Abhinav Bindra and Saina Nehwal were also medalists but not the baton bearers.
