Indian Regional Languages

Sauraseni is a Prakrit language that evolved into various regional languages in northern India, such as Braj Bhasha and other Western Hindi dialects. Pali and Magadhi are distinct Prakrit forms, and Kharoshti is an ancient script.

The 92nd Amendment Act of 2003 added Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, and Santhali to the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Bodo is often cited as the first in the list of these additions.
