Guru Nanak Dev ji  was the founder of Sikhism and the first Guru of the Sikhs. He believed in the values of equality, fraternity, goodness, and virtue. The basis of Sikhism lies in the teachings of Guru Nanak and his successors. He introduced the system of Sangat which means "association" and Pangat means community Kitchen also known as Guru Ka Langar which is  meant for providing food to all devotees, pilgrims and visitors. These were introduced to  remove disparity among people and promote equality and fraternity.

Travels or Divine Journeys of Guru Nanak Ji called Udasis. During these Udasis(religious tours), he visited holy places of different faith, met people of various faiths, professed his newfound path.The third time Guru Nanak Dev Ji left home on his famous Udasis in 1514 he trekked towards the north. He disguised himself in the blue dress of a Mohammadan pilgrim The places visited by him included Srinagar, Gurdwara Sri Nanak Mata Sahib, Gurudwaras in Jammu & Kashmir, etc

Travels or Divine Journeys of Guru Nanak Ji called Udasis. During these Udasis(religious tours), he visited holy places of different faith, met people of various faiths, professed his newfound path. He was moved by the plight of the people of world and wanted to tell them about the "real message of God". So he set out in 1499 on his mission for the regeneration of humanity on this earth.

Guru Nanak appointed Bhai Lehna as the successor Guru in 1539, renaming him as Guru Angad. Guru Angad had given up his own faith and instead had become a Sikh. He served and worked with Guru Nanak for many years. Having tested his discipleship through several tests over the years, Guru Nanak designated him as Guru Angad, the second guru of the Sikhs.

Guru Nanak came to the world with a message of peace, unity, love. He preached the oneness of God. According to him, God is one, and all human beings are equal in the sight of God.
