Karnataka Sugar Industry ranks 3rd in terms of its contribution of sugar in the total sugar production in the country. 

The first sugar factory in Karnataka was established in 1933. Since then there has been a steady growth of the industry and Karnataka has now emerged as one of the leading sugar producing states in the country.

Mandya is known as the sugar bowl of Karnataka, and the first modern sugar factory was established there.

West Coast Paper Mills Limited (WCPM), established in 1955, is located at Dandeli in Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka.
