World Geography and Politics

The Khmer Rouge was a communist regime in Cambodia (misspelled as 'combodia') led by Pol Pot from 1975-1979. They are not associated with Thailand, South Korea, or China despite regional connections.

Bhutan and Nepal use the Indian rupee alongside their own currencies under special agreements, making them unofficial users. Pakistan, China, and Sri Lanka have their own independent currencies and do not use the Indian rupee officially or unofficially. Among the options, Bhutan is the correct answer as an unofficial user of the Indian rupee.

Aksai Chin is the territory in the Kashmir region that is controlled by China but claimed by India. China captured this area during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. 'Chini Kashmir' is not the official name used in geography or politics.

China claims territorial rights over Tibet (which it occupies) and has claimed parts of Arunachal Pradesh as part of southern Tibet. This is part of the ongoing India-China border dispute. Nepal, Taiwan, and Bhutan do not make these specific territorial claims.

This area has been a source of border tension between the two countries. The dispute relates to adverse possession and boundary demarcation issues.

Abu Musa is an island in the Persian Gulf whose sovereignty is disputed between Iran and the United Arab Emirates. Iran currently controls the island, but the UAE claims it as part of its territory. This dispute has been ongoing since 1971 when the UK withdrew from the region. The island has strategic importance due to its location near the Strait of Hormuz.

South Korea celebrates its Liberation Day on August 15th, commemorating the end of Japanese colonial rule in 1945. India also celebrates Independence Day on August 15th (1947), making these two countries that share this independence date. Afghanistan, Denmark, and Mexico do not celebrate independence on August 15th.

Iran executed rebel leader Abdolmalek Rigi of the Jundallah separatist group in 2010. The Sunni militant group retaliated with attacks including mosque bombings, targeting Shia communities.

Jakarta is the capital and largest city of Indonesia, located on the northwest coast of Java. It's the political and economic center of the country. Manila is the capital of the Philippines, located on the island of Luzon. It's a densely populated coastal city and the political center of the country. Taiwan (B), Japan (C), and Bangladesh (D) are all Asian countries but Manila is not in any of them.

Pattaya is a coastal city in Thailand, known for its beaches and nightlife. It's located on the Gulf of Thailand, about 150 km south of Bangkok. Fiji (A) is in Oceania, China (B) is in East Asia, and Sri Lanka (D) is in South Asia.

Rawalpindi is a major city in Pakistan, located in Punjab province near the capital Islamabad. It's a garrison city with a strong military presence. Afghanistan (B) is Pakistan's neighbor, Saudi Arabia (C) is in the Middle East, and Bangladesh (D) was part of Pakistan until 1971.

Kilinochi is a town in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. It was the administrative center of the LTTE (Tamil Tigers) during the Sri Lankan Civil War. The town is located in the Kilinochchi District and serves as an important town in the northern region.
