Nepal is the only country in the world with a non-rectangular national flag. Its flag consists of two stacked triangles (pennons). Cambodia, North Korea, and Taiwan all use standard rectangular flags.

Aksai Chin (misspelled as 'Askai Chin') is the China-administered territory that India claims as part of Ladakh. Azad Kashmir is Pakistan-administered Kashmir. 'Tsampa' is a Tibetan food, unrelated to this territorial dispute.

The Islamic Revolution of 1979 overthrew the Pahlavi dynasty and established an Islamic Republic in Iran under Ayatollah Khomeini. This revolution fundamentally transformed Iran from a monarchy to a theocratic Islamic state. Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan did not experience similar Islamic revolutions during this period.

Indonesia is the only nation that depicts a Hindu deity on its currency - the 20,000 Rupiah banknote features Lord Ganesha. Nepal's currency symbols are secular, India uses the Ashoka Pillar and Gandhi portrait, and Cambodia's currency does not feature Hindu deities.

Time named Adolf Hitler as Man of the Year in 1938 for his enormous influence on world events that year, though this choice was controversial as it recognized his impact rather than endorsing his actions. The designation has historically been about influence, not approval.

Thailand was known as Siam until 1939, when the government officially changed the country's name. The name 'Thailand' means 'land of the free,' reflecting the fact that it was never colonized by European powers.

Aung San Suu Kyi is Myanmar's most famous political leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner (1991). She led the nonviolent movement for democracy in Myanmar (formerly Burma) and spent 15 years under house arrest. Her father, Aung San, was Myanmar's independence hero.

Operation Cactus was India's successful 1988 military intervention to thwart a coup attempt in the Maldives. When Tamil mercenaries from Sri Lanka attempted to overthrow the Maldivian government, India responded within hours and rescued President Gayoom. This demonstrated India's role as regional security guarantor.

The Wangchu (or Chindwin) River flows through Myanmar. It's a major tributary of the Irrawaddy River and flows through northern Myanmar and parts of India. Taiwan's major rivers include the Zhuoshui and Kaoping, not Wangchu.

Nepal is the only country that has officially declared Hinduism as its state religion, though it became a secular republic in 2007. Historically, Nepal was the world's only Hindu kingdom. India is secular with Hinduism being the majority religion but not official, while Myanmar and Burma (the same country) are predominantly Buddhist.

Nathula Pass, located in Sikkim, is one of the three open trading border posts between India and China. Rohtang Pass is in Himachal Pradesh and doesn't border China. Khyber Pass connects Afghanistan and Pakistan. 'Indochina pass' is not a recognized geographical name for a specific trading post.

The West Indies is a sub-region of North America consisting of various island nations. Because it is a collection of different sovereign states (like Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago), 'Independence Day' is celebrated on different dates throughout the year across the region.

Both India and South Korea gained independence on August 15, 1947, from Japanese colonial rule. Pakistan gained independence on August 14, 1947, not August 15. North Korea was also established around the same time but as a separate entity.

North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) celebrates August 15 as Liberation Day, commemorating its liberation from Japanese colonial rule in 1945. India also celebrates August 15 as Independence Day from British rule. Finland's independence is December 6, Sri Lanka's is February 4, and Seychelles gained independence on June 29, 1976.
