Pipeline transport network is a new arrival on the transportation map of India.  In the past, these were used to transport water to cities and industries. Now, these are used for transporting crude oil, petroleum products and natural gas from oil and natural gas fields to refineries, fertilizer factories and big thermal power plants. 

Trans-shipment is nothing but changing of modes of transport. For example road ways to water ways. During this there may be leakage especially in case of liquids and harmful chemicals. This is the reason why they are transported through pipelines to avoid losses due to trans-shipment.

Pipelines are the most convenient, safe, and cost-effective mode for transporting massive quantities of crude oil and natural gas over land, minimizing transit losses and delays.

Carpooling reduces the number of vehicles on the road, which directly decreases the total amount of greenhouse gases and other harmful vehicle emissions released into the atmosphere.

Buses are the most widespread, affordable, and consistently available form of public transportation in virtually all major South American cities. While some cities have metro systems, extensive passenger train networks are relatively rare across the continent.

Because of the immense geographical barriers like the Andes mountains and the Amazon rainforest, traveling long distances between major South American cities by road or water can be extremely slow and difficult. Air travel is the fastest and most practical option for long-distance transit.

Freight transportation specifically refers to the physical movement of goods from one point to another. While logistics is a broader term encompassing planning and management, freight transportation is the specific act of moving the cargo.

For a small package (15lb) requiring next-day delivery across the country, air transport is the only viable option. Rail and truckload are too slow for a 24-hour coast-to-coast requirement.

Air freight is characterized by high-value, low-weight goods. Because it is expensive, it is used for items where speed is critical, resulting in a high percentage of total value despite a low percentage of total weight.

Intermodal transportation involves the use of two or more different modes of transportation (such as rail and truck) to move a single shipment from origin to destination. This allows for efficiency by leveraging the strengths of each mode.
