Malaysia hosted the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, marking the first time the event was held in Asia. India later hosted in 2010 (Delhi), but Malaysia was the first Asian nation to host.

Golf originated in Scotland during the 15th century. The Old Course at St Andrews in Scotland is considered the home of golf, and the modern game evolved from Scottish traditions. While England also has historic golf courses, Scotland is universally recognized as the birthplace of the sport.
