The Olympic flame was first lit and burned continuously at the 1928 Amsterdam Games, establishing the modern tradition. The 1896 Athens Games had no flame, 1908 London introduced it temporarily, and 1924 Paris had no flame ceremony.

The first Asian Games were hosted by India in 1951 in New Delhi. Nine Asian nations participated. Japan hosted in 1958 (Tokyo), China in 1990 (Beijing), and South Korea in 1986 (Seoul) and 2002 (Busan).

The Munich massacre occurred during the 1972 Summer Olympics when the Palestinian group Black September took 11 Israeli athletes hostage, killing them along with a West German police officer. This was a tragic terrorist attack that shocked the world and changed Olympic security protocols permanently.

The first Asian Games held in Delhi were in 1951 (Asian Games I). Delhi later hosted again in 1982 (Asian Games IX), but 1951 was the inaugural edition in India.

Singapore hosted the inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2010, held from August 14-26. This was the first ever Youth Olympics, an IOC initiative for young athletes aged 14-18. The 2010 Commonwealth Shooting Championships were held in Delhi as a test event for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. This helped organizers assess venues and logistics before the main games.

Internazionale (Inter Milan) won their 3rd European Champions Club/UEFA Champions League title in 2010, defeating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the final. Their previous titles came in 1964 and 1965. This made it their 3rd European championship. 2nd, 5th, and 7th are incorrect.

The XIX Commonwealth Games (2010 Delhi) began on October 3rd, 2010 with the opening ceremony. The ceremony took place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. While some preliminary events started earlier, the official opening was on 3rd October. 14th October was the closing date, 7th and 15th are incorrect.

Shera was the official mascot of the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi. The name means lion and represents the royal Bengal tiger.

Scotland (specifically Glasgow) hosted the 2014 Commonwealth Games. This was the third time Scotland had hosted the games.

Australia won the 1999 ICC Cricket World Cup, defeating Pakistan in the final at Lord's by 8 wickets. This was Australia's second World Cup title and began their era of dominance (1999-2007). Pakistan was the runner-up, while South Africa (tied semifinal) and England were eliminated earlier.
