Udham Singh assassinated General Dyer in 1940 in London to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. Singh waited 21 years to carry out his revenge and was subsequently hanged. Hasrat Mohani (A) and VVS Iyer (D) were freedom activists, not assassins.

General Ved Prakash Malik was the Chief of Army Staff during the Kargil War in 1999. He led the Indian Army during Operation Vijay. General Joginder Jaswant Singh became Army Chief later (2000-2005), General Padmanabhan served after Malik (2000-2002), and General Chaudhuri was from a much earlier era (1960s).

Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey, Captain Vikram Batra, and Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja were all awarded the Param Veer Chakra posthumously (after death) for their gallantry during Kargil. Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, while also a Param Veer Chakra recipient from Kargil, is one of the rare recipients who was alive when he received the award - hence he's the exception.

Velupillai Prabhakaran was the founder and leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), killed by the Sri Lankan military in May 2009, ending the 26-year civil war. General Fonseka was the Sri Lankan Army commander who led the offensive against the LTTE. Vikramtunge and Jaisurya are not associated with LTTE leadership.

In 2004, businessman Vijay Mallya purchased the sword of Tipu Sultan at an auction in London for approximately £175,000 and brought it back to India. While the other individuals listed are prominent Indian industrialists, they were not the ones involved in this specific high-profile acquisition.

Field Marshal is the highest rank in the Indian Army, a ceremonial five-star rank that has been held by very few officers (Sam Manekshaw and K.M. Cariappa). Major, Colonel, and Brigadier are all lower ranks in the commissioned officer hierarchy (Lieutenant < Major < Colonel < Brigadier < Major General < Lieutenant General < General < Field Marshal).

Lord Mountbatten served as the last Viceroy and first Governor-General of independent India (1947-1948). James Hicky founded a newspaper, Gen. Maharaj Rajendra Singhji was a military leader, and Nehru became the first Prime Minister.

Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, the Sikh militant leader, was killed during Operation Bluestar in June 1984 at the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar. Homi Bhabha was a scientist, Baba Santa Singh was a Sikh leader but not killed in Operation Bluestar, and Haji Mastan was a smuggler.

Lord Mountbatten served as the first Governor-General of independent India from 1947 to 1948. He was appointed by the British government to oversee the transition of power after India's independence. C Rajagopalachari became the last Governor-General (and first Indian to hold the post) after Mountbatten left in 1948.

Saddam Hussein, the former President of Iraq, was executed by hanging on December 30, 2006, after being found guilty of crimes against humanity. Rajeev Gandhi was assassinated in 1991, Osama Bin Laden was killed in 2011, and Pervez Musharraf died in 2023 (none were hanged).

Maharaja Hari Singh was the last ruling monarch of Jammu & Kashmir who signed the Instrument of Accession to India in October 1947, making the decision to join the Union of India. Raja Mansingh was a historical figure from Mughal times, and Raja Jayadeep Singh is not a recognized historical figure associated with Kashmir's accession.

Tipu Sultan built the Summer Palace (also known as the Dariya Daulat Bagh or Tipu's Palace) near what is now K.R. Market in Bangalore. This palace was his summer retreat and is a historical landmark.

Lal Bagh was commissioned by Hyder Ali in 1760 and further developed by his son Tipu Sultan. Both rulers contributed to the garden's creation and expansion. Kempe Gowda I and II were earlier founders of Bangalore but not directly associated with Lal Bagh.

India Gate was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the British architect who was instrumental in planning New Delhi. It was built as a war memorial commemorating Indian soldiers who died in World War I.

Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, was assassinated on October 31, 1984, by her own bodyguards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh. This occurred in retaliation for Operation Blue Star. The other names listed are not connected to this assassination.
