UNISDR Stands for United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction. It was created in the year December 1999. It was established with goals to implement Strategies for Disaster Reduction. It is a part of the United Nations Secretariat.

The Council of the European Union referred to in the treaties and other official documents simply as the 'Council' is the third of the seven Institutions of the European Union (EU) as listed in the Treaty on European Union. It is the other half of the EU legislature (the other legislative body being the European Parliament) and represents the executive governments of the EU's member states. Sometimes it is also referred to as the Council of Ministers.

The European Research Council (ERC) is a public body for funding of scientific and technological research conducted within the European Union (EU). Established by the European Commission in 2007, the ERC is composed of an independent Scientific Council, its governing body consisting of distinguished researchers, and an Executive Agency, in charge of the implementation.

World migration report is published by International Organisation for Migration. It provides services to government and migrants regarding migration. It was initially established in 1951 as the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration (ICEM) to help resettle people displaced by World War II but now it became a related organization of the United Nations.

The Human Genome Project was started by US department of energy and National Institute of Health and this was done for the sequencing of human genome.

The Human Genome Project (HGP) is an international scientific research project with the goal of determining the sequence of chemical base pairs which make up human DNA and of identifying and mapping all of the genes of the human genome from both a physical and functional standpoint. It remains the world's largest collaborative biological project. The project was proposed and funded by the US government; planning started in 1984, the project got underway in 1990 and was declared complete in 2003. The project has been organized and supported primarily by the DOE, European Commission and the NIH, which established working groups to address genome mapping, computational analysis to handle databases, and the social, legal, and ethical implications of the human genome research. Congress funds the project through the National Centre for Human Genome Research at the NIH, which in turn awards grants and contracts to U.S. investigators. Additional funding from Congress goes to the DOE, which conducts research on human genetics at three national laboratories and also funds independent or private investigators.

Human Development Index is a measure of human development over the years which includes per capita income for evaluating the utility which people get from different products, life expectancy which measures the progress made in health and nutrition and educational levels. Human development Index was devised by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 1990 in their first Human development report. 

International Food Policy Research Institute develops and updates Global Hunger Index. International Food Policy Research Institute can be defined as an international agricultural centre. Global Hunger Index aims to measure the rate of hunger prevailed globally.

The Earth Summit, held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, is formally known as the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), and is commonly referred to as the Rio Summit.
