Indian Honours and Awards

The Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science is an award instituted by UNESCO for exceptional skill in presenting scientific ideas to the public. It was established in 1952 following a donation from Biju Patnaik of India. The Arjuna and Dronacharya awards are Indian national sports awards, and the Nehru Award is given by the ICCR.

The Bharatendu Harishchandra Awards are given by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, to promote original creative writing in Hindi on subjects related to mass communication.

The Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award. The Padma Vibhushan is the second highest, followed by Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

B. Ramalinga Raju, the founder of Satyam Computer Services, was named the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2007.
