Indian Honours and Awards

Sudha Mahalingam, a distinguished strategic affairs analyst and former member of the National Security Advisory Board, was awarded the first K. Subrahmanyam Award for Excellence in Strategic Studies. This award commemorates K. Subrahmanyam, the father of Indian strategic studies. The award recognizes significant contributions to strategic and security studies in India.

The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award is one of India's most prestigious science awards, given annually by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to recognize outstanding contributions in science and technology. Param Vir Chakra is India's highest gallantry award, awarded for the most conspicuous bravery or self-sacrifice in the face of the enemy. It was established in 1950 and has been awarded only 21 times.

Legendary Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra was conferred with France's highest civilian honor, Officier de la Legion d'Honneur (Officer of the Legion of Honour), in 2010 for his contribution to arts and cinema. The award recognizes distinguished service to France.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in cinema, presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals. It honors lifetime contribution to Indian cinema.
