The Azad Hind Sena (Indian National Army) was officially formed in Singapore in July 1942 after the fall of Singapore to Japan. Subhash Chandra Bose later took leadership in 1943 and proclaimed the Azad Hind government there. Singapore had a large Indian POW population who formed the initial recruitment base.

Captain Lakshmi Sahgal (also known as Lakshmi Sehgal) commanded the Rani of Jhansi Regiment, the all-women's regiment of the Azad Hind Sena. She was a medical doctor trained in Singapore and led this unique military unit formed in 1943. The regiment was named after the Rani of Jhani, the 1857 freedom fighter.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is believed to have died on August 18, 1945, when his plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Taipei (Taiwan, then Formosa). He was traveling to Japan via Taiwan to seek continued support for India's independence. The exact circumstances remain disputed, but Taiwan is the widely accepted location.

In 1943, Subhash Chandra Bose undertook a perilous submarine journey from Germany to Japan to seek support for India's independence. He traveled from Kiel, Germany on U-180 to the Indian Ocean, then transferred to a Japanese submarine (I-29) to reach Sumatra and eventually Tokyo. This was one of the most audacious submarine journeys of WWII.

S.V. Shekhar is the comedian in the film Veetla Eli veliyila Puli. He is a well-known Tamil comedian and character actor who has appeared in numerous Tamil films.

National Postal Day is celebrated on October 10th in India to commemorate the role of the Indian postal service. The date was chosen to honor the postal department's contributions to communication. August 9, January 30, and September 13 are not associated with National Postal Day.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated annually on October 2nd to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, born in 1869. This national holiday honors the Father of the Nation who led India's independence movement through non-violent civil disobedience. It is one of India's three national holidays, alongside Republic Day (January 26) and Independence Day (August 15).

Ramoji Film City, the world's largest integrated film studio complex by Guinness World Records, is located in Hyderabad, Telangana (formerly part of Andhra Pradesh state). Spread over 1,666 acres, it opened in 1996 and has been a major filming location for Indian cinema in multiple languages. Mumbai is the center of Bollywood but not home to Ramoji Film City.
