The Gateway of India was built in 1924 to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay. India Gate is in Delhi (WWI memorial), Victoria Terminus is a railway station, and Elephanta Caves are ancient rock-cut temples.

Charminar was built in 1591 by Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah to commemorate the end of a plague epidemic in Hyderabad. Jama Masjid and Mecca Masjid are in Delhi, and Toli Masjid is also in Hyderabad but built later.

Jack Kilby at Texas Instruments invented the first integrated circuit (silicon chip) in 1958, revolutionizing electronics. While Intel and AMD are major chip manufacturers today, the original invention was at Texas Instruments. This invention earned Kilby the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2000.

Volvo introduced the three-point safety belt in 1959, invented by Nils Bohlin. This invention is considered one of the most important safety features in automotive history and has saved countless lives worldwide. Volvo made the patent freely available to all manufacturers to promote universal safety.
