The modern classical guitar as we know it today was developed by Gaetano Vinaccia in Naples, Italy around the 1800s. While string instruments have ancient origins in Mesopotamia, the six-string guitar design is attributed to the Vinaccia family of luthiers. The name 'guitar' comes from the Spanish word 'guitarra'.

Vitamin K is essential for blood clotting as it helps produce proteins required for coagulation, including prothrombin and clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X. Without Vitamin K, blood cannot clot properly, leading to excessive bleeding. The name comes from the German word 'Koagulation'. It's also produced by bacteria in our intestines.

Water-soluble vitamins dissolve in water and are not stored in the body - they must be consumed regularly as excess is excreted in urine. The B-complex vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12) and vitamin C are water-soluble.

Scurvy is caused by Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) deficiency. Without adequate Vitamin C, the body cannot synthesize collagen properly, leading to bleeding gums, poor wound healing, and characteristic skin lesions. This was historically common among sailors on long voyages.

Rickets is caused by Vitamin D deficiency, which leads to impaired calcium and phosphorus absorption. Without adequate Vitamin D, bones cannot mineralize properly, causing soft and deformed bones, particularly in growing children. The condition can be prevented with adequate sunlight exposure.
