Mine tailings are the materials left over after the process of separating the valuable fraction from the uneconomic fraction of an ore.

Eco-label issued by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) is represented by a pitcher or an earthen pot indicating that the product is not harmful to the environment like as an earthen pot which is made of soil and after its use returned to it the soil. It is not causing any harmful effect on the environment.

Presently the scheme is limited to household and some consumer products to meet certain environmental criteria along with quality requirements of Indian standards. The label is known as Eco mark.

The products for which notifications have been issued for the criteria are toilet soaps, detergents, paper, architectural products and laundry soaps.

Energy efficiency does not come under the purview of eco-labelling.

The main objectives of the 'Eco mark' eco-label are as follows-

• Protecting the environment and to make consumers aware of environmental issues.
• Encouraging efficient management of renewable resources to ensure their availability to future generations.
• Promoting efficient management of non-renewable resources, including fossil fuels.
• Encouraging protection of ecosystems and species diversity.
• Encouraging proper management of chemicals to prevent pollution.

Processing of solid waste is a process that involves energy recovery from the wastes. In this nonrecyclable waste is converted into usable heat, electricity or fuel through various processes such as combustion, gasification, etc. Thus it is a process of treating solid waste which can be further put into use in any form or manner.

Waste management is the process of disposing of waste in a manner that does not harm the environment unnecessarily. It involves collection that is picking up waste material from the source, segregation which involves separating of products which can be recycled from those which are toxic to reduce waste and lastly composting which involves the dumping of waste so that it can be degraded in the environment.

The resources which can be reproduced by physical, chemical and mechanical process is called renewable resources. These are the sources which can be replenished over a period of time. Examples are forest, soil, wild life etc.

Environment is the surrounding in which the life exists. It is very essential to protect environment because life completely depends on environment. It can be protected by afforestation, by keeping the surrounding clean, by conserving energy and also by protecting wild life.

Electroplating is widely used in various industries for coating metal objects with a thin layer of a different metal. The layer of metal deposited has some desired property, which the metal of the object lacks.  Electroplating has wide usage in industries. It is also used in making inexpensive jewellery. 

Compounds that accumulate in the bodies cannot be digested and are passed onto the consumers. These are not excreted. These accumulants pass from one body to another by ingestion. This is called bio accumulation. Examples are lead and mercury.

A zero-emissions vehicle, or ZEV, is a vehicle that emits no tailpipe pollutants from the onboard source of power. Harmful pollutants to the health and the environment include particulates (soot), hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, ozone, lead, and various oxides of nitrogen. Although not considered emission pollutants by the original California Air Resources Board (CARB) or U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) definitions, the most recent common use of the term also includes volatile organic compounds, several air toxics and global pollutants such as carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
