The Department of Non-Conventional Energy Sources (DNES) was a new department which was set up in the ministry of energy. The establishment of this department took place in the year of 1982. Later on, the department was transformed into the ministry of non-conventional energy resource. 

The resources which can be replenished again after their consumption are referred as the renewable sources of energy. Water resource can be replenished due to rainfall. Soil production occurs due to the breaking of the rocks. The forests can be replenished through afforestation.

The minerals are obtained from the ores through mining. There are limited resources of the minerals present in the Earth's crust. Lead is used in the making of the batteries of the electronic devices. Gold is known for its commercial value in the making of the jewellery. Tin is used for various purposes from the ancient age. Tin was used for the making of coin, utensils, alloy making, etc. Tin is now commonly used for the preparation of the jars. The exploitation of these metals has resulted in fewer resources left and so, the metal resources will be exhausted first.

The resources which cannot be replenished again after consumption of resources are known as non-renewable resources. Minerals are obtained from the ores and they are available in limited forms. The metals are obtained through mining and are present in reserved amounts in the Earth's crust. The fossil fuels are synthesized due to the decomposition of the dead matter for long period of time. These resources cannot be replenished once they are used up. 

The resources which are available in nature in an unlimited amount are known as inexhaustible resources. These resources can be replenished again and again for use. The resources which can be renewed and are safe to use are known as non-conventional sources of energy. Solar radiations, wind power and sea tides are used for the generation of the electricity. These are inexhaustive and non-conventional resources.

There are limited deposits of coal present and they take a long time to be formed. so, they are known as non-renewable form of energy.
