A non-renewable resource is a resource that does not renew itself at a sufficient rate for sustainable economic extraction. They are found in fixed amounts and are being used faster than they can be replenished. An example is carbon-based, organically-derived fuel. The original organic material, with the aid of heat and pressure, becomes a fuel such as oil or gas. Earth minerals and metal ores, fossil fuels (such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas), nuclear fuels, and groundwater in certain aquifers are all non-renewable resources

Non-renewable resources are resources for which there is a limited supply. The supply comes from the Earth itself and it typically takes millions of years to develop. Non-renewable resources can generally be separated into two main categories; fossil fuels and nuclear fuels. Fossil fuels are derived from organic matter which has been trapped between layers of sediments within the Earth for millions of years. Crude oil/petroleum is a non-renewable resource that builds up in liquid form between the layers of the Earth's crust. The other form of non-renewable resource used to produce energy, nuclear fuels, is primarily obtained through the mining and refining of uranium ore. Renewable energy includes biomass, wind, hydro-power, geothermal and solar sources. 

Renewable resources are resources that are replenished by the environment over relatively short periods of time. Some examples of renewable energy sources are solar energy, wind energy, hydropower, geothermal energy, and biomass energy. Nonrenewable energy resources, like coal, nuclear, oil, and natural gas, are available in limited supplies. This is usually due to the long time it takes for them to be replenished. 

Bioenergy is renewable energy made available from materials derived from biological sources. Biomass is any organic material which has stored sunlight in the form of chemical energy. Most non-renewable energy sources are fossil fuels: coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Carbon is the main element in fossil fuels. 

Energy generated by using wind, tides, solar, geothermal heat, and biomass including farm and animal waste as well as human excreta is known as non-conventional energy. 

Inexhaustible resources are resources that are present with unlimited amounts in the nature; they cannot be depleted or exhausted by human activity. Inexhaustible resource is known as a renewable resource. This includes water, sand clay, water as well as solar energy.

The resources which are available in nature in an unlimited amount, known as inexhaustible resources. These resources can be replenished again and again for use. The light energy is inexhaustible resources which are obtained from the sun. The wind and light energy can be used for the generation of electricity. The sand is available in large amounts and is used for the production of glass.

Earth minerals and metal ores, fossil fuels (coal, petroleum, natural gas) are all non-renewable resources. In contrast, resources such as sunlight, water, timber and wind are considered renewable resources, largely because their localized replenishment can occur within time frames useful to humans.

The resources which can be replenished again after their consumption are referred as the renewable sources of energy. The trees can be replenished by afforestation method in which new trees can be planted. The agricultural products can be obtained again when the new crops are produced in the farm. The wildlife species once extinct cannot be replenished again.
