Advantages of remote sensing:

The first artificial satellite launched by the Soviet Union was Sputnik I. It was launched on October 4, 1957. It was the world's first artificial satellite.

In remote sensing, the energy is recorded by the sensor. After that recorded energy is transmitted to the receiving and processing station where the data are processed into image either in hard copy or digital or both.

In the remote sensing process, the energy is recorded by the sensors. This recorded energy has to be transmitted in the electronic form to a receiving and processing station where the data are processed into an image.

• The processed image is interpreted, visually and/or digitally or electronically, to extract information about the target which was illuminated.

Suburban rail, urban rail, commuter rail, or regional rail, plays a major role in the public transport system of many of India's major cities. Suburban rail is defined as a rail service between a central business district and suburbs, a conurbation or other locations that draw large numbers of people on a daily basis. The trains providing such services may be termed suburban trains. Trains on the Mumbai Suburban Railway, Chennai Suburban Railway, Kolkata Suburban Railway and Hyderabad MMTS are referred to as local trains or locals. Kolkata Suburban Railway is the second oldest after Mumbai Suburban Railway and has the largest network in the entire country. They are limited only to a few number of cities 

The Mumbai Suburban Railway, popularly referred to as Locals forms the backbone of the city's transport system. It is operated by the Central Railway and Western Railway zones of the Indian Railways. Mumbai's suburban rail systems carried a total of 7.5 million passengers every day in 2007. Trains are overcrowded during peak hours, with nine-car trains of rated capacity 1,700 passengers, actually carrying around 4,500 passengers at peak hours. The Mumbai rail network is spread at an expanse of 319 route kilometers. 191 rakes (train-sets) of 9 car and 12 car composition are utilized to run a total of 2,226 train services in the city. 

The smoke coming out from the industries contains both chemicals and paricles. It has small particles of dust, carbon, metals, other solids and radioactive materials. All these mix with the air and pollute it. These are also responsible for acid rain.
