Before 15th century, the Canary Islands were occupied by the Spain. The Portuguese registered their presence in 15th century when in 1341 the king of Portugal sent a military expedition to the islands. By the end of the 15th century the Canary Islands already contained a considerable Portuguese population.

Battle of Plassey in Bengal, on 23 June, 1757, was a crucial event in the history of India. It was the start of nearly two centuries of British rule in India. The British East India Company led by Robert Clive defeated Siraj-ud-Daulah, the Nawab of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa and a small French force. Hence Clive is called the Hero of Plassey.

The Battle of Buxar was a conflict at Buxar in northeastern India between the forces of the British East India Company led by Hector Munro and the combined army of an alliance of Indian states including Bengal, Awadh, and the Mughal Empire. It was a decisive battle confirmed British power over Bengal and Bihar and marked the end of the attempt to rule Bengal through a puppet nawab.

The French sought to strengthen their rule in Vietnam through control of  education. They tried to change the values, norms and perception of the people, to make them believe in superiority of French civilisation and the inferiority of the Vietnamese.

The Congress of Vienna was a conference of ambassadors of European states chaired by Austrian statesman Klemens Wenzel von Metternich and held in Vienna from November 1814 to June 1815. The objective of the Congress was to provide a long-term peace plan for Europe by settling critical issues arising from the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars.

Louis XVI of the Bourbon dynasty was married to the Austrian princess Marie Antoinette on 16 May 1770.

In 1792 election the new assembly was elected, which was called the Convention. In this election first time all men above the age of 21 got the right to vote in the regard of wealth. On 21 September 1792 monarchy was abolished and France was declared a republic. Later king Louis XVI and the queen Marie Antoinette were sentenced to death. They were executed publicly at the Place de la Concorde.
