Indian Regional Languages

Hindi is NOT the national language of India - it is an official language along with 21 other scheduled languages. The Constitution of India does not designate any language as the 'national language'. This is a common misconception. Hindi is used for official Central government communications along with English.

Lokmanya Tilak published two newspapers - Kesari in Marathi and Maratha in English to reach different audiences. Maratha (English) aimed to educate the British rulers and anglicized Indians about Indian political issues, while Kesari (Marathi) mobilized the masses.

Nagaland is the only Indian state with English as the official language, as declared in the Official Languages Act, 1967. Other states like Meghalaya, Manipur, and Assam have different official languages or use English alongside others.

The word 'Allah' is from Arabic, the language of the Quran. It is the Arabic term for God and is used by Arabic-speaking Muslims, Christians, and Jews. The word comes from the Semitic root 'El' or 'Ilah' meaning 'the God' or 'the one supreme being.'

Urdu is the official national language of Pakistan, designated as such since the country's independence in 1947. Urdu is written in a modified Perso-Arabic script and serves as the lingua franca of Pakistan. Hindi is India's official language, and Spanish is spoken in the Americas, not Pakistan.

India has 22 officially recognized languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. These include major languages like Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, and others, reflecting India's linguistic diversity.

Hindi is the most spoken language in India with over 40% of the population speaking it as their first language. It is one of India's official languages and is primarily spoken in the northern and central regions. While English is widely used for official purposes, it has fewer native speakers compared to Hindi.

Dogri is an Indo-Aryan language primarily spoken in the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir. It is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India and has official recognition in the union territory.

Fiji has both Hindi (Fiji Hindi) and English as official languages due to historical migration of Indian indentured laborers during British colonial rule. While India has many languages, the question specifically pairs Hindustani and English together.

Nagaland has English as its official language, which is used for government and educational purposes. This is common in several northeastern states to facilitate communication between various linguistic groups. Tamil Nadu has Tamil, Kerala has Malayalam, and Jammu and Kashmir has multiple official languages including Urdu and Kashmiri. Note: 'state's' should be 'state has' or 'states have'.

Hindi is the official language of Rajasthan according to the Indian Constitution. While Rajasthani dialects like Marwari and Mewari are widely spoken, Hindi holds official status.

Bengali and Kokborok are the official languages of Tripura, though Bengali serves as the primary official language for government and administrative purposes. This is due to Tripura's geographical proximity to West Bengal and historical migration patterns. Kannada (Karnataka), Telugu (Andhra Pradesh/Telangana), and Garo (Meghalaya) are languages of other regions.
