The Karaga festival is one of the oldest and most important festivals in Bangalore, specifically celebrated by the Thigala community. It is dedicated to Draupadi of the Mahabharata and typically occurs in March/April. While Dasara and Ganesh Chaturthi are major Karnataka festivals, Karaga holds particular significance as Bangalore's own traditional festival. Ugadi is the Kannada New Year.

India's official national calendar is the Saka Era calendar, which was adopted by the Government of India in 1957 for official purposes.

The festival honors the divine feminine in its nine forms and attracts participants from across India and worldwide. Navratri in Gujarat is particularly renowned for its energetic community dancing and vibrant celebrations.

Vishu is the Malayalam New Year celebrated in Kerala, usually in mid-April. Onam is the harvest festival, Pongal is Tamil Nadu's harvest festival, and 'adhanu' appears to be a typo. Vishu marks the astronomical New Year and is celebrated with special rituals like Vishu Kani.
