Prasar Bharati is India's largest public broadcaster. It is an autonomous body set up by an Act of Parliament and comprises Doordarshan television network and All India Radio which were earlier media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, then the DRDO chief and architect of India's missile programme, was reportedly denied professorship at IISc Bangalore in the early 1980s. Tata Football Academy (TFA) is a renowned Indian football institution established in Jamshedpur. The acronym TFA specifically refers to this academy in Indian football context.

Punjabi University, Patiala has been offering B.Ed through correspondence/distance mode specifically for in-service teachers. This program allows working teachers to upgrade their qualifications while continuing their service. Other listed universities may have B.Ed programs but not specifically through correspondence for in-service teachers.

IIT Kharagpur was the first Indian Institute of Technology, established in 1951. It was founded near the site of the Hijli Detention Camp to train engineers and scientists for independent India.

NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) is a premier medical institution located in Bangalore (Bengaluru). It is one of India's foremost mental health and neuroscience institutes.

The proposed six new National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERS) are coming up at Ahmedabad, Hajipur, Hyderabad, Calcutta, Rai Bareilly and Guwahati.
