Gandhinagar has been Gujarat's capital since 1960, planned as a new city adjacent to Ahmedabad. Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu, Dispur is the capital of Assam, and Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim.

Chennai (formerly Madras) has been the capital of Tamil Nadu since 1869. Gandhinagar is the capital of Gujarat, Dispur is the capital of Assam, and Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim.
