Indian Cities and Places

Lucknow has been the capital of Uttar Pradesh since 1947 when it replaced Allahabad (now Prayagraj). It is the administrative headquarters where the state legislature and secretariat are located. Lucknow is also known for its rich Awadhi culture and historical significance.

Patna is the capital and largest city of Bihar, situated on the southern banks of the Ganges River. It has historical significance as ancient Pataliputra and serves as Bihar's administrative center. Gaya and Nalanda are important cities but not the capital.

Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) is the capital of West Bengal and one of India's major metropolitan cities. It serves as the administrative center where the West Bengal Legislative Assembly is located. Durgapur and Darjeeling are important cities but not the state capital.

Imphal is the capital city of Manipur, located in the Imphal Valley. It serves as the administrative center where the Manipur Legislative Assembly is located. The other options are district headquarters in Manipur but not the capital.

Bengaluru (Bangalore) is the capital of Karnataka and India's major IT hub. It houses the Karnataka Legislature and Secretariat. Mysore was the former capital of the Kingdom of Mysore but is now a cultural center, not the state capital.

Bhubaneshwar is the capital city of Odisha (formerly known as Orissa). It is the largest city in the state and houses the state legislative assembly. The other options - Puri (pilgrimage center), Cuttack (former capital), and Konark (heritage site) - are important cities but not the state capital.

Dehradun is the capital of Uttarakhand (formerly known as Uttaranchal until 2007). It serves as the headquarters of the state government and is a major educational hub. The other options - Nainital (lake district), Rishikesh (yoga capital), and Haridwar (pilgrimage city) - are important cities but not the capital.

Gandhinagar (named after Mahatma Gandhi) is the capital of Gujarat, planned on the lines of Chandigarh. It is located near Ahmedabad and houses the state secretariat. The other options - Ahmedabad (former capital, largest city), Vadodara, and Surat - are major cities but not the capital.

Port Blair is the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which is a Union Territory, not a state. Imphal (Manipur), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), and Panaji (Goa) are all state capitals. The odd one out could be Port Blair because it's a UT capital, or because it's located on an island archipelago while the others are on mainland India.

The first World Classical Tamil Conference was held in Coimbatore in June 2010, organized by the Tamil Nadu government under Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. This event showcased Tamil's classical language status through academic and cultural programs. While Chennai is the capital, Coimbatore was chosen as the host city.

The ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), now known as U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), is located in Bengaluru (misspelled as 'Banglore' in the option). Bengaluru has been ISRO's primary satellite development center since the 1970s. The city houses the lead facility for designing, developing, and building all of India's satellites, not Mumbai, Chennai, or Hyderabad.

Visvesvaraya Technological and Industrial Museum is located in Bangalore, Karnataka. It is named after Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the renowned Indian engineer and statesman. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and New Delhi are incorrect locations.

Nishat Bagh is a terraced Mughal garden situated on the eastern side of Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. Built in 1633 by Asif Khan, it's the second largest Mughal garden in Kashmir Valley and known for its terraced layout and views.

Victoria Memorial is a grand marble building in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), built between 1906-1921 to commemorate Queen Victoria. It's now a major museum and tourist attraction, showcasing colonial-era artifacts and serving as an iconic landmark of the city.
