Phu Dorjee became the first Indian to climb Mount Everest twice without oxygen - he achieved this feat in 1984 and 1985. While other Indians like Tenzing Norgay (though he was Nepalese, climbed with Indian support) and others have climbed Everest, Phu Dorjee specifically accomplished this double ascent without supplemental oxygen.

Christopher Columbus reached the Americas in 1492, landing in the Bahamas. While indigenous peoples had lived there for millennia and Norse explorers had visited earlier, Columbus's voyages led to permanent European contact and are credited with the 'discovery' in historical context.

Mount Everest was named after Sir George Everest, who was the Surveyor General of India from 1830-1843. The mountain was given this name in 1865 by Andrew Waugh to honor his predecessor. The pronunciation 'EE-verest' differs from Sir George's original pronunciation 'EV-rest'.

Alexey Leonov (Soviet Union) became the first human to conduct a spacewalk (EVA - Extravehicular Activity) on March 18, 1965, during the Voskhod 2 mission. The spacewalk lasted 12 minutes and 9 seconds. Yuri Gagarin was the first in space, Neil Armstrong first on the moon, and Aurthur Clark appears to be a misspelling of Arthur C. Clarke (science fiction author).

Captain Matthew Webb successfully swam across the English Channel in 1875, completing the feat in approximately 21 hours 45 minutes. He became the first recorded person to accomplish this challenge, setting a precedent for future channel swimmers.

Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, landed at Kappad in Kerala in 1498, which established the sea trade route from Europe to India. This historical event is well-documented. Kappad Beach near Kozhikode (Calicut) is the historically accurate location. The other options are also places in Kerala but not the correct landing site.

Willem Janszoon (misspelled as Willliam Janszoom) was a Dutch navigator who became the first recorded European to sight and map parts of the Australian coast in 1606. Eric the Red and Leif Ericsson were Norse explorers associated with Greenland and North America, not Australia.

Roald Amundsen, a Norwegian explorer, was the first person to reach the South Pole on December 14, 1911, beating a British expedition led by Robert Falcon Scott. Sir Edmund Hillary was famous for climbing Mount Everest in 1953, long after the South Pole was reached.

Christopher Columbus was Italian by birth, born in the Republic of Genoa in 1451. However, he sailed under the Spanish flag, funded by the Spanish monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella, which often leads to confusion. His voyages opened the Americas to European exploration.
