Lumberjack is the standard occupational term for workers who cut down trees and transport them to sawmills. While terms like 'lumberman' have been used historically, 'lumberjack' is the widely recognized professional term. The occupation involves felling, cutting, and loading timber for commercial use in the forestry industry.

Silviculture is the science and practice of controlling forest establishment, composition, structure, and growth. It specifically deals with forest management and tree cultivation. Horticulture is fruit/vegetable cultivation, apiculture is beekeeping, and sericulture is silk farming.

 Eucalyptus, in general, are much faster growing than most other trees in cultivation.

 Mahogany is a kind of wood—the straight-grained, reddish-brown timber of tropical hardwood species.

The trunk, branches and twigs of the tree are covered with bark. The outer bark, which originates from phloem cells that have worn out, died and been shed outward, acts as a suit of armor against the world by protecting the tree from insects, disease, storms and extreme temperatures. In certain species, the outer bark also protects the tree from fire.

During the day, in presence of sunlight, the plants use up the carbon dioxide and release oxygen as a byproduct. But during night they are unable to use the carbon dioxide and this leads to increase in the proportion of carbon dioxide in the air. During night the trees breathe in oxygen and release carbon dioxide. If one stands under the trees, the amount of increased carbon dioxide in the air around will certainly affect the health. So it is not inadvisable to stand or sleep under trees during night.

Evergreen trees remains green through out the year on account of the fact that leaves fall throughout the year in small numbers at intervals.

A tree which is having only left subtree is called as left skewed tree.

Young trees are often grown as houseplants in areas where the winters are too cold for them to grow outside (they will not, for example, survive outdoors in most of the areas of the United States or Europe), and are sometimes used as Christmas trees.

Deforestation, clearance or clearing is the removal of a forest or stand of trees where the land is thereafter converted to a non-forest use.

Leaves become needle-shaped in palm and coconut trees.

People are advised not to sleep under trees during night. The reason is that, the trees give carbon dioxide during night.

Timber primarily means wood or lumber prepared for use in building. Wood is the correct synonym. Tree is the source but not the same as processed wood. Musical sound and loud noise might confuse with 'timbre' but are not meanings of timber.

The plants that live for many years are called perennial plants. Banyan, mango and neem are some perennial trees.

Rope like roots hanging from the branches of banyan trees are called prop roots. When these roots reach the soil, they act like pillars supporting the heavy branches of the tree.
