Ordain: to predetermine; predestine  

Limpid: perfectly clear; transparent; not cloudy or turbid

Thaw (N): a becoming less reserved in manner  

Quiescent: quiet; still; inactive 

Parsimonious means characterized by parsimony; miserly 

A sobriquet is a nickname or assumed name, often used humorously or affectionately. This French term refers specifically to an alternative name someone is known by. Divorce, popularity, and poverty are completely unrelated concepts.

Muffle: to wrap up in a shawl, blanket, cloak, etc. so as to hide, keep warm, or protect 

Inspire can mean to induce or bring about a particular state, feeling, or action. In this sense, 'induce' is the closest synonym among the options. While not a perfect synonym, 'induce' captures the causative aspect of inspiration.

Velocity is speed with a specified direction, but in common usage and basic physics contexts, 'speed' is the most direct answer. Race, hurry, and flight describe actions involving speed but are not synonyms for velocity itself.

It means something that is present, or seeming to be present, everywhere at the same time; omnipresent. 

Alert describes someone who is watchful, attentive, and quick to notice things. It refers to being mentally prepared and observant. Thoughtful and clever describe intelligence, while careful describes caution, not attentiveness.

Upbraid: to rebuke severely or bitterly; censure sharply 

Volte face: a complete reversal of opinion, attitude, etc.

Invigorate means to give energy or strength to someone, which is exactly what energise means. Both words refer to the act of making someone feel stronger, more lively, or more enthusiastic.
