Pingali Venkayya designed the Indian national flag, which was adopted in its present form during the Constituent Assembly meeting on July 22, 1947. He was a freedom fighter and Gandhij follower who designed over 30 flags. The tricolor represents saffron for strength, white for peace, and green for fertility.
