Mahatma Gandhi married Kasturba Makhanji Kapadia in 1883 through an arranged marriage when they were both 13 years old. Kasturba remained his lifelong partner and supported him throughout his political and social activism. She played an active role in various protests and was imprisoned alongside him during the freedom struggle.
