Varanasi (also known as Kashi or Benares) is widely considered one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with history dating back over 5,000 years. It is repeatedly mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures and has been a center of learning, culture, and religion for millennia. Delhi, Madurai, and Mumbai, while historically significant, are not as ancient as Varanasi in terms of continuous habitation.
