The Henry Classification System, developed by Sir Edward Henry in the late 19th century, remains the foundational system for organizing and searching physical fingerprint records in the United States. Although automated digital databases (AFIS) are now primary, the underlying logic of the Henry system is still taught and used for manual classification. It allows physical cards to be filed systematically.
