Thailand is historically known as the 'Land of White Elephants' because white elephants were considered sacred and symbols of royal power in Thai culture. The Siamese kings kept white elephants as a sign of their divine right to rule. Baghdad, Norway, and Korea do not have this distinctive epithet.
