Thailand is known as the "Land of White Elephants" because white (albino) elephants were considered sacred and highly prized in Thai culture. These rare elephants were given to kings as prestigious gifts. Cambodia, Java, and Sumatra are also in Southeast Asia but don't have this specific cultural association with white elephants.
