Zaheer ud-din Mohammad Babar (Babur) founded the Mughal Empire in 1526 by defeating Ibrahim Lodi, the last Sultan of Delhi, at the First Battle of Panipat. Babur was a Turkic-Mongol prince from Fergana Valley who descended from Timur and Genghis Khan on his paternal and maternal sides respectively. Genghis Khan founded the Mongol Empire, Balban was a Delhi Sultan, and Kamal Pasha was an Ottoman leader.
