Language of administration of Sultans

The Delhi Sultans used Persian as the official language of administration, court proceedings, and record-keeping. This was because Persian was already an established administrative language in the region from the Ghaznavid period. Turkish was the personal language of the ruling class but not used for administration. Urdu developed much later during the Mughal period.
