In the Ramayana, Lord Ram killed Vali with a single arrow while hiding behind a tree. This was done to help Sugriva regain his kingdom from his brother Vali, who had wrongly exiled him. Ram killed Vali from ambush because Vali was invincible in open combat due to a boon.
