Angkor Wat in Cambodia is the largest religious structure in the world by land area, covering 162.6 hectares. Built in the 12th century, it was originally dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu before being transformed into a Buddhist temple. The pyramids, while iconic, are not temples.
