Reticent means reserved, silent, or disinclined to talk about oneself. Susceptible means easily influenced, wry means dry or mocking, and placate means to appease.

Rummage means to search thoroughly through a mass of things. Inundate means to overwhelm with things, splenetic means bad-tempered, and decadence means moral decline.

Usurpation refers to the act of seizing or taking power, position, or property without legal right or by force. The term captures both unauthorized taking and the element of seizure. Obtrude means to intrude or impose, not take. Mendacious means dishonest, and appease means to pacify.

Anachronism refers to something that belongs to a different time period than its current context, literally meaning 'against time.' It describes people, events, or objects that are chronologically out of place. Ostentatious means showy, errant means straying, and august means dignified.

Truculent means fierce, savage, or cruel in disposition, often with a readiness to fight or argue. Itinerary means a planned route, effeminate means having feminine qualities (negative connotation), and malevolent means having evil intentions.

Prosaic means lacking poetic beauty, dull, commonplace, or ordinary - essentially the opposite of poetic. It captures both the idea of being tiresome and ordinary. Glib means fluent but insincere, sordid means morally ignoble, and salubrious means healthful.
