Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (often called Mujib) led Bangladesh's independence movement and became its first President. He is widely revered as the Father of the Nation (Bangabandhu).

Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, was assassinated in Sarajevo in June 1914. This event triggered the complex alliance system that led to World War I.

Gulshan Kumar, founder of T-Series, was popularly known as the 'Cassette King' of the Indian music industry. Bajiprabhu Deshpande is the legendary Maratha warrior associated with Panhala Fort in Kolhapur district.
